Sneaker sizing from Chinese sellers: the Putian factory standard

4 min read

The good news first: sneakers from established Putian factories generally size accurately to the original brand. A Putian Nike Dunk Low US 9 measures within 5mm of a real Nike Dunk Low US 9. The bad news: not every factory is established, and sizing reliability drops by tier. Here's the brand-by-brand guide.

The measure-first rule

Before ordering, trace your foot on paper and measure from heel to longest toe in millimeters. Compare directly to the insole length the seller provides, not the size label. Most established sellers list insole length in mm — if they don't, ask through your agent.

General fit allowance: insole should be 8-12mm longer than your foot length for casual sneakers, 5-8mm for performance-style fits.

Brand-by-brand notes

Nike Dunk Low / SB Dunk. True to size. Insole at US 9 typically 270mm.

Nike Air Force 1. True to size, sometimes runs 0.5 large. If between sizes, go down.

Nike Jordan 1 (mid, high, low). True to size. Width can run slightly narrow on certain factory variants. If you have wide feet, size up 0.5.

Nike Jordan 4 / 11. True to size. Width is generally accurate.

Yeezy 350 V2. Runs small. Size up 0.5 to 1.0 from your usual US size. This is consistent with the real Yeezy 350.

Yeezy 500 / 700. True to size or slightly large. Size down 0.5 if between.

Adidas Samba / Gazelle. Size up 0.5. Both real and Putian versions run a half size narrow.

New Balance 550 / 990 / 9060. True to size. New Balance is usually the most consistent across factories.

Converse Chuck Taylor. Size down 1.0. Both real and replica Chucks famously run a full size large.

Vans Old Skool / Sk8-Hi. True to size.

Air Jordan 1 High Travis Scott / collab versions. True to size. Slightly different cut from base Jordan 1 but sizing matches.

Off-White / off-the-wall designer collabs. Varies wildly by factory. Read recent QC photos from buyers your size.

How tier affects sizing

S-tier and top A-tier factories (PK God, LJR, GET, OG, GP, OWF for various silhouettes) match retail sizing within 3-5mm. B-tier factories sometimes run 5-10mm small, especially for Yeezy and Adidas silhouettes.

If you're buying from a budget seller (CNY 150-300 / $20-40), assume you may need to size up 0.5 from your usual TTS. For mid-tier and above, trust the standard.

Wide-foot considerations

Most replica sneakers, like the originals, are cut for medium-width feet. Wide-foot buyers (E width or wider in US terms) should:

  • Skip narrow silhouettes like Yeezy 350 or Jordan 1 unless you're committed.
  • Favor New Balance 990/990v6 silhouettes — both real and replica run wider.
  • Consider sizing up 0.5 in Nike silhouettes.

Women's sizing

Most replica sellers list US Men's sizes. To convert to Women's:

  • US Women's = US Men's + 1.5
  • So US Men's 7 = US Women's 8.5

For smaller women's sizes (US Women's 5-6), production may be limited — some factories don't make below US Men's 7. Check stock before ordering.

Insole length tables

Reliable rough conversion table for common US Men's sizes:

| US Men | EU | UK | Insole (mm) | |---|---|---|---| | 7 | 40 | 6 | 245-250 | | 7.5 | 40.5 | 6.5 | 250-255 | | 8 | 41 | 7 | 255-260 | | 8.5 | 42 | 7.5 | 260-265 | | 9 | 42.5 | 8 | 265-270 | | 9.5 | 43 | 8.5 | 270-275 | | 10 | 44 | 9 | 275-280 | | 10.5 | 44.5 | 9.5 | 280-285 | | 11 | 45 | 10 | 285-290 | | 11.5 | 45.5 | 10.5 | 290-295 | | 12 | 46 | 11 | 295-300 |

Common agent QC sizing tools

KakoBuy, CSSBuy, Sugargoo, CNFans, and Hubbuy all let you request insole-length measurements in QC photos. Ask before paying for international shipping — "please measure insole length and add to QC photos" — and the warehouse usually obliges. This is your final size verification before commitment.
